The 2006 AVN EXPO was an exciting people watching event. Not only did you catch glimpses of your favorite porn stars, but as you were jostled along with thousands of others in the crowd, you really realized that you weren’t alone. There was never a moment that you were made to feel like a freak or a pervert. In fact because there were so many people – it was as if it was a completely normal weekend event – like taking the kids to the park or barbecuing with the neighbors. This was a very comfortable environment for both women & men.
I would have to say that it really was much too crowded to really experience the entire expo. Some aisles were so crowded that you couldn’t even see what many of the booths were selling. So this was definitely the place you could feel lost in the crowd. If you are looking to remain anonymous then this event is definitely for you! If you don’t care for crowds, then you may want to skip this one.
BOOTHS
Some of the booths that promised the really big names in porn like “Totally Jenna” were a total let down. The lines were long & the majority of the time, there was absolutely no sign of the infamous Jenna Jameson. Thumbs down on this display.
The Hustler Jewelry display had lots of selection & really interesting pieces – from Hustler belt buckles, body jewelry, rings, & necklaces. It was a great exhibit . The only problem – None of it was for sale! They had cases & cases of display items & were then referring you to some store in the middle of nowhere in Las Vegas to purchase. Like we’d be willing to drive across town. Not!
Unlike the Hustler booth – the Chicken Ranch Brothel booth was not only handing out discount coupons & menus for all their delicious delights, but you could also purchase a T-shirt or a Hat right there at the booth. And, they even had clothing items for women. This is definitely a place that both couples as well as single men could enjoy – according to their menu which listed items such as; “Vibrator Party”, “Couple Party”, “Jacuzzi Party”, “Bondage Session”, & “Breast Massage”. One booth that was definitely going for humor was the PSI booth (Porn Scene Investigator clothing company). Their Fireman dressed complete with a badge & PSI T-shirt was a riot. It was so funny – you had to buy a hat & for $20 it was worth the laugh! Take a look at www.americanmockery.com
The GAYVN section was extremely large this year & while not as crowded as the rest of the displays, it attracted quite a bit of attention when the music started & male porn stars & strippers started dancing around & showing off the goods. The piece de la resistance was they were handing out pink bags with the slogan “You’re so Gay!” It was an adventure land for the gay man.
Watch out for the Budda Co! They were wandering around putting stickers on your booty. This is probably the most diverse porn company out there that really specializes in Black, Asian & Hispanic porn stars. And let me tell you, these ladies had gorgeous back or “budda”.
Overall, this event was “First Timer” friendly. The intimidation factor was close to zero & we would recommend this event for the open-minded & curious. We would not recommend it if you are strictly looking for an event that will really “turn you on” – despite the fact it is referred to as a porn convention, the environment is not overly tempting to the libido.
