Yesterday around 6 in the evening I’d made myself some fish tacos and just sat down for a movie when a guy called up wanting an appointment for last night. I said I was booked when I very well could have eaten my tacos, gotten dressed, and gone to the space to meet him and make $200.

But I fucking let it go.

Lazy. Stupid.

For too long I have eaten, slept, partied and worked whenever they hell I felt like it. This erratic lifestyle is taking a toll. I am unfocused, unmotivated, and going broke. Something has to change.

Today I drew up this self-imposed schedule:

11 p.m. in bed
7 a.m. get up
7-10 a.m. breakfast, exercise, get dressed
10-noon writing my book and this blog
noon-1...

1. Obviously, you have to suck and fuck men you don’t know and are not attracted to.

2. Unlike all other professions (barring sports) where experience counts, your value as a sex worker decreases with age. Because customers value above all else a young attractive body and fresh, untested reverence for male authority (but they prefer to call it “a good attitude”).

3. It’s illegal. And society doesn’t look too favorably on WHORES anyway. So you have to keep a secret from almost everyone you know.

I had another job interview this morning.

It was at 9:30 a.m., which meant I had to get up before 8 a.m., something I’m not used to doing anymore. Dragging myself into the shower I remembered what it was like to live for your day job. Then squeezing onto the street car at morning rush hour, no place to sit, nobody getting off and only people getting on, everybody’s soap and cologne and perfume and general morning freshness all in each other’s faces, all the way downtown.

The interview lasted about 15 minutes.

I don’t think the interviewer was very impressed with me.

But I just couldn’t bring myself to articulate answers to questions about my “philosophical approach” to this particular position....

I don't feel as though I'm "selling myself" or my body. It all actuality, I'm perfectly fine with what I do. I respect myself and I view it as any other job. I actually take pride in my work and see it as a business, always looking to improve upon the service, keep the customer happy, and keep a steady flow through the integrity of my work.
